Makes you wonder what else is in our food!

I love the Jamie Oliver and his show the Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, he is passionate about changing the food that is served to children at lunch and what we eat at restaurants.  I came across this video and article on the internet and was disgusted with what I was reading.

McDonald’s just announced that they will no longer us ammonium hydroxide as a processor in their US beef, the company that produces Beef for McDonald’s explained that they use ammonium hydroxide to eliminate potential bacteria, such as E.coil.

In an episode of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, he says parts of the cow that are “not fit for human consumption” because of too much bacteria are processed with ammonium hydroxide for humans to eat.

“Basically, we’re taking a product that would be sold at the cheapest form for dogs and after this process we can give it to humans,” Oliver said in that same episode.

A microbiologist from the U.S. Department of Agriculture believes that ammonium hydroxide should be banned.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s Canada said that ammonium hydroxide is not used and that the only ingredients used in their burgers are 100% beef, salt and pepper.
